THE landlord of the Greyhound Inn in Bromham has retired a few weeks short of his 25th anniversary at the pub.
George Todd, 71, left the pub on Friday, ending a quarter of a century's association with the village. Having run the pub as a free house for so many years, he sold it to local brewers Wadworth two months ago.
He said: "I'm not sorry to be retiring, but I shall miss the people in the village."
Mr Todd, who lost his wife Morag two years ago, has set off on a motoring tour of France and Spain, and he has plans for more globetrotting.
He said: "I shall come back, tie up some last pieces of business, then get on a plane to Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand or somewhere, rent a place on a beach and stay there."
Mr Todd's daughter Rachel, who was just three years old when her parents moved to the Greyhound, now lives in Market Lavington.
