THE paintings, prints and mosaics created by artist Jane Muir reflect the landscape fragmentations around the area.
The artist considers the formation of tree stumps, trunks and roots to be important sources for her charcoal drawings and oils and the more mythical subjects are represented by etching and aquatint.
Four oils, Hasp and Staple, Cement Veil, Red Crevice and Torn have been boldly conceived: Line is juxtaposed sympathetically with texture, colour and volume.
The paintings, however, need to be seen from a distance.
The mosaics, made from slate and gold leaf, smalti, marble and glass are vibrant in colour and form.
Perhaps the most interesting items on show are sketchbook drawings and notes. Here it is possible to see how the artist arrives at her finished work.
