Noffs fish bar in Grange Drive has clinched the prestigious Sea Fish Quality Friers' Award for the second time.
The chippy retained the award, presented by the Sea Fish Industry Authority, having maintained high standards in more than 200 inspected areas including hygiene, customer service and food quality.
Noffs is one of a select group of 350 holders nationwide having undergone a rigorous inspection lasting four hours.
The award scheme has been running four years but has only recently included frying establishments.
Previously the honour was awarded only to fishmongers, supermarkets and wholesalers.
Presenting the award Adrian Barratt, quality advisor for Sea Fish Industry Authority, said: "The aim of the award scheme is to constantly improve standards". Noffs proprietors Kam and Shahin Bandali put its continuing success down to recent introductions such as fresh ground coffee and lunchtime promotions. Employee of the month and Frier of the Month awards also ensure the twelve-strong staff uphold high standards.
Mr and Mrs Bandali moved to Swindon in May, having previously owned a chip shop in London.
Living above the Grange Drive premises means that they are able to supervise the everyday running of the shop, promoting a friendly, community-based image.
Mrs Bandali thanked her customers and neighbours for their support and welcome into the area, adding: "I think the award is a great achievement in just five months".
