Student Jonathan Peacock has scooped a prize for his excellent design work.

Jonathan's task was to create a new logo for the Friends of Swindon Rail Museum group.

The group approached Swindon School of Art and Design to come up with a new logo for use on the company letters and journal the North Star.

There were over a dozen entrants but the work of 21-year-olds Jonathan and stationer Robert Salters was judged to be the best. They were awarded cheques for £40 by Mayor Arthur Archer. The runner-up was Graham Hearn, who received £20.

John Wood, one of the directors of the Friends of Swindon Railway, hopes the project will help to increase awareness of the group.

He said: "We have been working for ten years to promote interest in the Steam Museum. We are always looking for new members to help promote and preserve what we have here."

Anyone interested in joining the group should phone John Wood on Swindon 535560.
