The changing seasons and unpredictable weather have been known to catch mother nature out from time to time, but things have gone completely quackers at Roves Farm in Sevenhampton.
Much to the surprise of farmer Rupert Burr, Doris the duck has produced a brood of 14 ducklings about four months late.
And Mr Burr has been forced to round them all up and take them under his wing in his visitor centre because he fears they would not last the winter outside.
He has about 50 mallards on his pond and they normally hatch their eggs in early summer.
"It is very unseasonal and it seems a bit daft really," he said. "Doris is only a year old and it's only her second brood, so I think she's still learning the ropes.
"I've certainly never seen a mallard nest so late in the year, but she seems a very proud mum."
Visitors will have to move quickly to get a glimpse of the newborns as the farm is only staying open until October 29, which is the latest it has ever remained open.
The farm welcomes visitors every day except Monday and Tuesday from 11am until 5pm.
