The Runnymeade Trust's report about Britishness having racial overtones, and anyone proud of flying the Union Jack being racist is not just politically correct rubbish which should be treated with contempt, it also highlights the hypocrisy of New Labour.
During the closing ceremony of their annual party conference there were a great many New Labour supporters waving Union Jacks like there was no tomorrow. Does this mean then that New Labour are trying to tell us that they are racist themselves or is it simply a matter of one law for them, and one for the rest of us? Either way it shows that we can't trust them.
As for flying the Union Jack I would like to point out that many other countries always have their national flags flying, such as America, France, Holland, and Bulgaria. All four of these countries are multi-racial societies, yet it is okay to fly the national flag. I am British, proud of it, and sometimes wear the Union Jack on t-shirts, yet I have friends who are foreigners, and I'm married to a foreigner, so there is no way I am racist or xenophobic.
I would like to suggest that the people who wrote this piece of offensive rubbish, and anyone who supports them, get a life and find something better to do.
