A SPOOKY night has been lined up for Halloween at The Rondo Theatre in Bath.
The play, Hallowed Be Thy Name, contains many elements of a traditional ghost story, but also explores the unknown, the unthinkable and the unbearable.
The story is set in 1891, in the small Wiltshire village of Maybourne. Here lies the little church of St Jude's, where a place of worship has stood for over 800 years.
Reverend Wardacre has not dared set foot in his church for almost a year. An unspeakable, malevolent force has descended upon it; bizarre and horrific occurrences have driven the congregation away. Enter the young, enigmatic Dr Emlyn Borley, a man of science; he is prepared to banish whatever it is.
As he and the Reverend re-enter the church, they too are forced to face their own pasts. Pasts that are inexorably linked to the terrible haunting of St Jude's.
In Hallowed Be Thy Name, writer Nick Scovell has created a highly atmospheric examination of the human spirit and its capacity to understand, to love and to fear. Watch it if you dare.
