Given the rumours which are circulating, I would like to inform the parents of children at Lowbourne Infant & Nursery School, Melksham, of my resignation as a parent-governor and the situation at the school.
I have a great sense of pride in the school's achievements and respect for the hard work and dedication of the staff and pupils.
The teaching staff continues to have my full confidence, however the governing body's mishandling of the concerns raised over the health, safety and welfare of the pupils and staff, and my own concerns over the chairman, leaves me with no option but to resign.
Other governors have also left, now leaving more than a third of governor places vacant.
I had hoped that the DfEE and LEA's involvement last month and the actions agreed by the governors then, would allow the governing body to move on, learn from past mistakes and begin to follow correct procedures and act in accordance with the regulations and laws.
Unfortunately I do not believe this is happening and the LEA's advice has been ignored.
Therefore, because of my continued unease at the way the governing body is operating, and the possible risks to pupils and staff, I am now writing to the Secretary of State for Education, and notifying the LEA of my grave concerns for the well-being of the school.

Riverside Drive,
Melksham.
