AMBITIOUS plans to restore an ancient barn and create a visitor centre in Bradford on Avon are set to move forward.
District councillors met to consider an application by Bradford Preservation Trust for the Barton Farm complex next to the historic Tithe Barn.
The trust wants to restore the ruins of the West Barn, which was destroyed by fire in the 1980s, and improve visitor facilities at the tourist attraction.
West Wiltshire District Council's northern area committee was recommended to approve the plans, with permission to be granted at a future date.
Officers said the main aspects to be considered are the relationships to the Tithe Barn, a protected monument, and adjacent Grade I listed buildings.
Bradford on Avon Town Council has welcomed the application.
