SKURRAY'S WILTSHIRE LEAGUE: Trowbridge Town 0, Devizes Town Reserves 2: TROWBRIDGE TOWN'S first home match in the Premier Division, following a string of five away games, attracted a crowd of 170 to Woodmarsh, but they went home disappointed.

The two sides were evenly matched in a goal-less first half, but after the interval Devizes Town Reserves were better-organised and were deserved winners.

The Town were again without Neil Kirkpatrick (Wembley duty) and the injured Mark Conners but had the tall striker Alan Little, a new signing from Bradford Town, making his debut. He created mayhem in the Devizes rearguard, particularly in the first half.

Devizes created the early pressure and Town goalkeeper Chris Vaughan, who put in another competent performance, made two superb saves.

At the other end, Little put Timmy Waylen away on 21 minutes and his shot, which had keeper Jimmy Flippance well beaten, went just over the bar.

Chris Tricker then ran through the Devizes defence and his fierce shot went just wide of the far post. It was end-to-end football but Trowbridge perhaps had the edge. Andy Doel was particularly impressive.

The second half was a different story, with Devizes piling on the pressure from the start and it was no surprise when Mark Strickland outpaced the home defence to put the visitors ahead.

Devizes wrapped it up in the 82nd minute when substitute Colin Yates found himself unmarked and his shot left Vaughan helpless.

Tomorrow Trowbridge are on the League Cup trail with a home game against Biddestone. Kick off 2.30pm.
