DEVIZES SUNDAY LEAGUE: THE Bell on the Green started well against Devizes Snooker Club in their group one match in the Tamaru Hinchley Shield.
They had three or four chances stopped through excellent saves from the Snooker Club's goalkeeper, before Dean Potter's shot was saved and bounced in off the crossbar.
Bob Young was next scorer for the Bell, with a run from the halfway line finishing with a shot into the back of the net.
Lee Saunders picked up from a Dean Potter cross and tapped in from six yards before Potter scored his second. Bob Young scored his second with a volley from the edge of the box and Potter completed his hat-trick before half-time following a run from the half-way line.
Potter scored his fourth soon after the interval and his fifth came when he beat the offside trap. Alan Powell came on as substitute for The Bell and scored their ninth and final goal with his first touch.
Selectabook played an eight man Fusion Athletic team in group two and overpowered their opponents from the start.
Graham Gaiger held the defence together in the first half before firing in two superb goals in the second. Selectabook, leading 5-0 at half-time, came out to score another nine goals in the second, with Sam Gaiger scoring four times.
Danford Henry pulled back a consolation goal in the 89th minute with a spectacular diving header. Selectabook's other scorers were: N Taylor (2), D Poole, A Davies (3), M Wallen, A Webster and J Elderidge.
The Dolphin led 1-0 against Trowbridge Wanderers in the second leg of their group three match when Jonathon Emin earned them a penalty after 11 minutes and Darren Folkard coolly fired in. Dolphin controlled the game in the first half until five minutes from the break when Carl Mackness of Trowbridge lobbed the goalkeeper and watched the ball trickle over the line to give a half-time score of 1-1.
Dave Melin scored for Trowbridge five minutes into the second half, playing the ball across the goalkeeper after Tim Spirit delivered a precision pass.
Melin scored his second with a blasting left foot volley from a 40 yard Darren Cullen pass. Thirteen minutes later Melin completed his hat-trick from an indirect free kick in the penalty area.
Dolphin gained life from somewhere in the final minutes and earned a penalty which Darren Folhard converted to give a final score of 4-2 to Trowbridge, although Dolphin win 6-5 on aggregate.
The Greyhound played host to Imber United in the second leg of their group four match which was a very even game. Imber opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Nicholas Bowes from a corner, to which the Greyhound responded six minutes later when Mike Eddy made a solo run only to be brought down in the box and score from the penalty.
Imber's second came when Paul Farrant chipped the ball to Nicholas Bowes, who slotted home.
Ten minutes after the restart Mick Rogers of Imber struck from outside the 18 yard box and found the bottom right hand corner of the net.
Rich Eddy was fouled in Imber's penalty area three minutes later, giving his brother Mike his second goal from a penalty. On 25 minutes Gareth Simmonds levelled it to 3-3 with a spectacular 40 yard strike.
Imber then took the game by the scruff of the neck and struck through Michael Clarkson-Keursley and Steve Solan, with a 25 yard scorcher, giving Imber a 5-3 victory (8-5) on aggregate.
