You wouldn't normally think looking after a council skip was a dangerous job. But West Wiltshire District Council is being forced to send out a two-man guard on its community skips after one of its workers was attacked.
This is just the latest setback for the district council as it attempts to revamp its refuse collection service and save cash.
Some householders are furious the skips can now only be used for waste which can be recycled.
But, ironically, enforcing this policy and making sure employees are safe by sending them out in twos is likely to cost extra cash.
Maybe it is time for a rethink.
