When Iain McIntosh and his wife Sarah had triplets at Princess Margaret Hospital, they realised that they were going to need a larger car.
The couple, from Burbage, already have a two-year-old son James and with the birth of their three new arrivals, Fiona, Emily and Alexander, space was at a premium.
Primary school teacher Sarah, 30, gave birth on September 14.
She said: "When I had my first scan, the midwife thought that I was going to have twins. But when they later told me I was expecting triplets, I couldn't believe it."
But the happy news left the family with a problem.
National Grid Company engineer Iain, 29, said: "We were finding that we had to take two cars out when we wanted to go anywhere, so we have been looking around for a vehicle that could take us all."
Their existing five-seater Fiat Marea Estate car was just not up to the job, but after an exhaustive search, the couple found that the six-seat Fiat Multipla fit the bill perfectly.
Iain said: "It is just what we have been looking for. It is really spacious and it will be great to be able to travel around as a family.
"I don't think we will be wanting any more children."
