A silver band is tuning up for a concert which will help fight a debilitating disease.
Carol Luxton, a member of Highworth Silver band, has been battling ME or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for more than two years.
Her condition means she is no longer able to play her tenor horn, but she remains committed to music.
Tomorrow the musicians will give a concert at the Salvation Army Citadel in Fleet Street, Swindon, beginning at 7.30pm.
The proceeds will go to the Action for ME charity.
Among the performers will be Carol's husband, Stuart, who is principal cornet.
Carol said: "More needs to be done to make people aware of ME.
"It is important that those looking into research for possible cures are given as much help as possible."
ME remains a much-misunderstood ailment.
Once dismissed by certain doctors as 'yuppie flu', it is now widely recognised as a potentially debilitating illness, warranting extensive research into cures.
ME can lead to extended periods in which the sufferer barely has the energy to perform all but the most basic day-to-day activities.
