MARK Walters is desperate for a starting chance against his old club tomorrow (Saturday, September 21).
The 36-year-old has been on the bench for Bristol Rovers in nine of 11 matches this season as boss Ian Holloway uses him sparingly.
"I still think I can do a job from the start," said Walters. "I feel the best I have for a few years now and my fitness is pretty good."
Walters is looking forward to his return to the County Ground.
"I think Swindon are the only one of my former clubs that I didn't want to leave," he said.
"The club's financial situation was given as one of the reasons for the decision to let me go, but I was one of the lowest-paid players there.
"The chairman had talked to me about getting involved on the coaching side there as well, but in the end the decision was down to Jimmy Quinn. I was sad to leave."
