MARTIN Williams has until February to prove he is worth a long-term contract at Swindon.
And the former Reading striker knows the more goals he scores the more chance he has of staying at the County Ground.
His match-winning double at Luton last month gave everyone a glimpse of what he was capable of. Now he wants to push on and really find his top form.
Town have failed to find the net in their last two matches and Williams is the first to admit that his own personal form has not been up to scratch.
"We were all disappointed with the result against Oldham last week and it is up to us to put things right," he said. "Swansea was a lot better and we all worked very hard for that point. But the team has not scored for two matches and it seems the chances have dried up for us.
"It is important for the boys to come away with three points this weekend, we need a boost."
Training this week has been based around early delivery into the box and creating more chances in the danger area.
Williams is just desperate to get one clear-cut chance so he can get his home account up and running.
"Things really seemed to be going well for me up at Luton and I hoped that my form would kick on," he said. "I have not scored a goal at home yet and it would be really nice to find the net. I am not even assured of my place in the side, but if I do play then I am determined to put things right in front of goal.
"I am here until February and it is down to me to earn myself a longer contract. I can't take anything for granted. I have to do the business and prove to the manager that I have something to offer."
He knows his form has to improve.
"It is always in the back of my mind that I have to keep on my game," he said. "The last couple of matches have not been good for me, I have not played very well and I am disappointed in myself. But I am confident I can put things right."
