I am writing in response to Peter Bates' comments which appeared in the Evening Advertiser on October 10.

Look out! Here comes Peter Bates again swathed in the Union Jack sending in his gun boat to blow Johnny Foreigner out of the water, for failing to sing Rule Britannia at the drop of a hat.

What ludicrous bombastic nonsense!

According to Peter, Labour would never give us a referendum to withdraw from the EU, completely forgetting that under Harold Wilson they already did.

But apparently the Conservatives have had a brilliant idea to curb Brussels power, again conveniently forgetting that they signed us into it in the first place.

I am glad to hear the Conservatives have had a brilliant idea, that must be the first one ever. Let's hope it lasts longer than their tax guarantee six months; or zero tolerance on drugs one week.

I feel rather sorry for Peter. He is obviously a Conservative supporter, who can not get used to being out in the wilderness, after his party's crushing defeat at the general election. Never mind Peter, you'll soon get used to it you are going to be out there a long, long time.
