Just over a year ago, I wrote to the Evening Advertiser about the state of the drains on the railway bridge, alongside the Coopers scrapyard in Bridge End Road.
You sent a photographer, and did a story in the paper, with a photograph of me pointing out the blocked drains on the bridge.
In the next two days after the story, Bridge End Road and Gypsy Lane, were swept at least three times by a road-sweeper, the two blocked drains were cleaned out and life went on. Because of the overall state of the drains, both sides of the bridge, it wasn't long before the drains were blocked up again, and have been ever since.
Sometime in the past four weeks, the council finally solved the blocked drain problem. The two drains have now been blocked off, and tarmac laid on top of them, so now they just don't exist problem solved!
