MEMBERS of Swindon Council are learning about what children think of life in town.
Following the authority's Play Service Conference last year, in which youngsters explained their views, councillors are again gauging young opinion at the Link Centre Youth Unit on Thursday. It is hoped the meeting will be the first of regular contact and consultation with part of the community whose views are not often heard.
Coun Barrie Thompson (Lab, Parks), who is Lead Member for Equalities and Partnerships, said: "Swindon council is a listening council and believes it is important to listen to the younger children, if the policies the council adopts are to reflect the real needs and aspirations of all its citizens."
"We therefore welcome the opportunity to discuss the needs of our young citizens at the forthcoming Children's Consultation event."
