A SCHOOL which has received £2 million for major renovation works, is giving its pupils a taste of the continent.
Lethbridge Primary School will receive £1m from the Government and £900,000 from Swindon Council to get rid of the old huts used as classrooms.
The Victorian frontage will be retained but the rest of the school will be transformed.
Coun Chris Eley said that the investment would result in virtually a new school.
He added: "We share in the delight that all feel about this new beginning for Lethbridge Primary."
Pupils are currently holding a European week and learning about dance, art and food from other countries.
Swindon mayor Arthur Archer helped launch the European activity week at the school.
The event forms part of the European Union-funded Comenius programme which has already enabled the school to forge links with others in Spain and Finland.
Head teacher Ray Norman said the school aims to establish itself as a 21st century learning institution.
"We have a visiting sculptor and a dance group and we have been very active making hats and flags, and looking at food from different countries. We want to be a school that reflects the best in education for the new century," he added.
