The combined efforts of three young chess players from Lethbridge Primary School, Old Town, brought them the school prize to go with their individual successes at the Bucking-hamshire Junior Congress in High Wycombe.
Ten-year-old Daniel Hall won the under-12 section outright with six wins out of six, and Adam Wiltshire, nine, shared first place in the under 10 section, winning five of his six games.
Each qualified for their age group competition at the prestigious London Junior Championships in December.
Ten-year-old Alastair Drew's shared third place, with four points out of six in the Under 12s, clinched the prize for the highest scoring school.
Like Alastair, Robbie Dams, 11, from Westlea, also scored four out of six to share third place in the Under 12s, both qualifying for the Under 12 Minor section in London.
