Visitors to the Art Centre Gallery will be taken back in time this month with an atmospheric exhibition by a Swindon-based artist.
Patricia Greenwell has created a collection of watercolour and acrylic paintings and pastel drawings. Entitled Images of Six Millennia, they are based on some of the world's ancient monuments.
The quiet mystery of places like the standing stone circles at Avebury and Stonehenge and the magnificent temples of Luxor in Egypt are all featured.
Much of her work is 3D and is designed to express her reactions to the sheer weight of the stones.
She said: "When standing within a stone circle I marvel at the amazing skill and determined endeavour which must have gone into the construction."
As well as Patricia's exhibition the gallery is also hosting a display of work by Swindon Visual Art course students.
Their stone carved sculptures include Celtic style heads and shell-like forms which the gallery believes will complement the Images of Six Millennia exhibition.
The display runs at the Art Centre Gallery in Devizes Road, Old Town, until November 4.
