A pregnant woman was threatened with a hammer during a robbery at an off licence.
She was working at Park Off Licence in Faringdon Road when the robber walked into the shop.
The man stole £100 from a till after making threats to the woman and another member of staff.
The staff were so shaken by the attack, which happened last night (Monday) at around 7.30pm, that they were unable to tell the police in which direction the man had run off.
He is described as white, medium build, in his 20s and around 5ft 10ins to 6ft.
He had short, dark brown hair and dark eyes and was wearing a red t-shirt, black trousers and white trainers.
Police say the man may have been noticed by people, because it was raining on and off and he was not wearing a jacket.
Any witnesses who saw the man running away from the off licence or saw anyone matching the description in the area at the time, are asked to contact DC Steve Curtis at Westlea Police Station on Swindon 528111.
