A threatened day care centre has been thrown a lifeline while its fate is decided.
Councillors backed a call from members of a working party to allow more time for a funding crisis at Clapham Hobbs Unit for the Disabled to be resolved.
The centre currently faces a £48,000 shortfall and could face closure unless it can meet the annual savings needed. It supports more than 80 adults with physical disabilities.
Members of the council's policy commission recommended that a decision on the fate of the centre should be put back until December 12 to allow further options to be examined.
Carer Norman Hammet, a member of the working party, said: "At least it will stay open for another few months and give more time for a solution to be found."
The crisis started when Swindon Borough Council told the centre it was cutting its annual budget by £55,000. The centre has managed to find only £7,000 worth of savings leaving a shortfall of £48,000.
