Colin Todd's premature departure from Swindon Town will be met with deep despondency and anger by supporters.
His arrival heralded a new beginning for Swindon. His experience and the financial backing of Terry Brady should surely have pointed Town to a brighter future.
Sadly, the light at the end of the tunnel is barely visible. Indifferent form has left the team low on confidence and languishing near the bottom of Division Two.
And while fans expected Todd to turn the situation around quickly as he built his new side, they are now left with confusion and uncertainty for the future.
Clearly Todd could not resist the temptation of leading a club where he has a deep emotional attachment.
Nobody will be impressed with the way he has treated Swindon Town, but the draw of the Premiership is clear for all to see.
Now Mr Brady, who has shown he has ambition by unveiling plans for a new stadium, must ensure he brings in a manager who is fully committed to Swindon and is willing to see the job through.
The new manager must also be given the financial backing to bring in more new players and develop a squad capable of first avoiding the unthinkable drop to Division Three and then able to pushing on for promotion.
It's over to you Mr Chairman.
