TOWN have refused to accept Colin Todd's resignation and are thinking over a request from Derby County to speak with the manager.
As exclusively revealed inThis is Wiltshire, Todd quit the club last night (Tuesday) following the 2-0 home defeat against Millwall.
However, now club chief exexecutive Peter Rowe has revealed that the request has been denied and that they are in negotiations with both Derby and their lawyers.
Rowe said: "We have refused his (Todd's) resignation and are discussing the situation with our team of lawyers.
"Following a meeting this morning our chairman Terry Brady received a phone call from Derby County. That has been followed up by fax seeking permission to approach Colin Todd.
"We are now talking to our lawyers with regard to a reply to that request. We will be having discussions with Derby as to how they wish to take this forward.
"It was never the case that we wanted Colin Todd to leave the club and it probably still isn't. This approach has come out of the blue and we have to be seen to be doing everything that is right for this club."
It is understood that Todd was in Derby this afternoon holding talks with club officials and agent Richard Cody at Pride Park.
