Swindon Planning Officers often need to gain access to the rear garden of domestic properties, to carry out a survey. Unfortunately, householders are often out, resulting in repeat visits by officers.
After numerous failed visits, officers will write to householders to arrange access, this entire procedure causing delay in the processing of planning applications. Surely common-sense would dictate that leaving a pre-printed card, asking the householder to contact the officer, would save Swindon Borough Council time and money. Officers could then make an appointment.
