THE winner of a penalty shoot-out staged to raise funds for the Gazette's meningitis scanner appeal was delighted to receive his prize.

Mark Dolman, 12, from Calne, who plays in number nine position for Westinghouse Youth was the victor in the Mid Wilts Youth and Minor Football League's penalty shoot-out after beating 20 other youngsters in the contest at the North Wiltshire Festival in July.

The event raised more than £330 and Mark's prize was an England strip, which was to be donated by Midwest Technologies, of Chippenham.

Its managing director Malcolm Toogood was the chairman of the Mid Wilts Youth League for five years.

But problems arose when Umbro stopped producing the England strip. Mr Toogood scoured sports shops in England and abroad while on business, but failed to find the kit in Mark's size.

Finally Mark was offered an alternative prize of the same value and chose the away strip of his favourite team, Manchester United.

As Mr Toogood is away on business in the US, his daughters Emma and Holly, who both work for Midwest Technologies, presented Mark with his prize.
