THE Somerford Play Areas Community Enterprise Scheme is appealing for help to bring the playground at Little Somerford in line with health and safety requirements.
The scheme was set up by residents earlier this year to secure Lottery funding to improve the playground. It was closed by the parish council because some of the equipment was too dilapidated for children to play on safely.
Pressure from parents compelled the council to re-open the play area during the summer holidays.
Netting was placed over the slide because of fears that children could be injured while using it .
The scheme is being organised by Brian Birkin-Hewitt and his wife, Janine, who have asked residents to make donations or help with repairs on the playground.
Anyone who can help can contact Mr Birkin-Hewitt on (01666) 822776 or Chris McAuliffe on (01666) 823605.
