WOLF-whistling will not be tolerated in Swindon by the borough council.
This follows a well publicised case in Gloucester where council bosses sent letters to staff warning about lecherous behaviour in public.
There had been complaints by members of the public who had been abused by workers employed by the council.
Swindon Borough Council has said that any such activity by its employees will be taken very seriously.
Council press officer Lynda Fleming said: "We don't have a policy on wolf-whistling as such but there are rules in place about sexual harassment ."
She said harassment of employees or members of the public could lead to disciplinary action.
