A MUSICAL centre of excellence looks set to go ahead at a former infants school.
Swindon Council's cabinet has agreed to transform Park South Infants School in Priory Road into a state-of-the art centre with a music library, tuition courses, recording studio and stage.
This means that the centre, currently based at Churchfields Lower School and run by Swindon Music Co-operative, would relocate to Park South and expand.
The co-operative would run the new centre which could be open as soon as next September. The scheme now just needs the final approval of the ratification committee in two weeks' time.
Coun Barrie Thompson (Lab, Parks) said: "It will be a facility second to none in this region. It is the sort of facility young people are looking for and needing."
