CUTTING edge DJs and top pop acts are putting Swindon on the map with clubbers from across the South West.

Celebrity spotters and serious musicians alike cannot fail to be impressed by the mix of stars deciding to add Swindon to their list of live dates.

Ex-Another Level boy band singer Dane Bowers played two sets in the Brunel recently. After him came his lady friend Atomic Kitten Natasha and her band. The trio, who launched their debut album Right Now on Monday, October 23, made a guest appearance at the club's Teenage Kicks.

Club director Stephen Reid said musicianship was making a big comeback, and was looking to be as popular as live acts were in the 70s.

He said the appearances put the town in key with the major cities on the M4 corridor Reading, Bristol, Cardiff and Bath.

Stephen said: "In the 70s we had headline acts like Blondie, Debbie Harry and the Talking Heads. There is a real demand for that again the audience really respond to a live act."

Mobo award-winning MJ Cole, best known for his dance track Sincere, will take charge of the decks on Friday, October 27, along with Radio 1 Dream Team DJ Spoony a monthly resident at the club.

On Saturday, October 28, Spiller and Sophie Ellis-Bextor will perform their number one hit Groovejet, which beat Posh Spice and Dane Bowers to the number one slot in August.

Stephen said: "It's hard work trying to secure acts like Spiller. Thankfully the club has built up a good relationship with the agencies over the years."

Robbie Craig, Iceberg Slimm and Timmi Magic will visit at the start of November. The next few weeks will also see world famous DJs Judge Jules and Norman Jay.

Boy band Damage and Dream Team DJs Spoony and Mikee B are on the bill on Friday, November 24.

The kids are in for a treat again on Wednesday, November 29, when Robbie Craig performs summer hit Woman Trouble.

MC Luck and DJ Neat, who had a huge hit with With a Little Bit of Luck, will perform in December, as will garage success Artful Dodger.

DJ turned songstress Sonique has had huge success with her two singles, Touch The Sky and Feels So Good, will appear the Friday before Christmas.
