A FEW weeks ago there was an article in the Gazette concerning the then forthcoming reunion of day, night and engineering staff of the Devizes Telephone Exchange which closed in 1985.

That reunion has now taken place and a very happy event it was.

Telephonists who worked at the exchange in Devizes in the late 1930s were there, as were ex-staff from many parts of this country and there was news of those now living overseas.

Warmest thanks to Avril Surman and Anne Fielding who masterminded the event and to the team of ladies who worked with them to provide the delicious and ample refreshments.

Such was the pleasure of the occasion that someone was heard to say "When is the next one?"
