IT was a good weekend for Junior Division One side West Swindon who won their first game of the season at the tenth attempt, defeating Minety on their own ground 3-1.
Purton A also won their first game in Junior Division Two with a victory over visitors Wanborough United Reserves 5-3.
After a goal-less first half at Minety, West Swindon took the lead soon after the break when a corner by Paul Thorpe was headed into the net by Derek Northwood and shortly after they found themselves two up, Richard House adding the second with a delightful chip over the Minety goalkeeper.
Ten minutes from time they made sure of victory, Derek Edgington crossing from the by-line for Northwood to volley in from close range for a third.
Purton A were always in the lead against Wanborough United Reserves. who kept hauling themselves back in the game with strikes from Kevin Wilkinson.
Purton however continued to have the edge, with a hat-trick from Simon Carter and goals from Mark Giles and Paul Tranter.
Blunsdon United gained a 4-1 win over Dunbar Westside in the Intermediate Division, with Justin Twitchett (2), Ian Bell and Justin Pearson on target. Geoff Swatton scored for Dunbar.
Wanborough United beat leaders Burmah Castrol 2-1, Stuart Murphy and Brett Goodson putting United two up at the break, Chris O'Connell pulling a goal back for the leaders midway through the second half.
Marlborough Town Reserves gained a useful 1-1 draw with Burmah Castrol in Junior Division One and Wroughton Reserves beat Aldbourne Reserves 5-1, with Mark Love, Stuart Temple, Steve Westall and Simon Hall on target and Mark Barnet for Aldbourne.
Goals from Michael Ward, Chris Mintern and John Sabin gave Sherston a 3-2 home win over Ferndale Rodbourne, Steve Marriott and Rob Griffin scoring for the visitors.
Trowbridge Town gained a thrilling victory in the second round of the Addkey Senior Cup, beating Biddestone 4-3 after extra-time.
Steve Healey and James Lye (2) scored for Biddestone.
Trowbridge scored the winner in the first period of extra-time, John Taylor scrambling the ball over the line.
Devizes Town Reserves took advantage of Cricklade's league absence by beating Purton Reserves 7-0 and are now level on points with the leaders with two games in hand. Nathan Sheridan (3), Phil Romans, Graham Gager, Gary Campbell and Lee Pearce were the Devizes scorers.
Bradford Town took the lead against the run of play through Steve Roddy, Pewsey Vale Reserves equalising just before the break. Midway through the second half Stuart Powell snatched victory for the home side.
Melksham Town ran out 2-1 winners at Corsham Town Reserves James Jangler and player-manager Stuart Irons scoring for the visitors and Kevin Brown for Corsham.
Malmesbury Vics and Westbury United Reserves drew 2-2, Ken Cartiledge and Mick Langley scoring for the Vics and Steve Munday and Paul Beaver for United.
Bottom club Marlborough Town held visitors Wroughton to a goal-less first half but after the interval Tom Dingle opened the scoring, followed by strikes from Lee Curtis, Ashley Channing, Mark Croydon and Fred Bentos.
