Pewsey Vale 0, Keynsham Town 4

SWINDON Town legend Don Rogers was unable to halt Pewsey Vale's losing run as his new side went down to a heavy home defeat against the Screwfix Direct League First Division leaders.

But after his first game in charge, Rogers remains confident about the club's future and said: "We have nobody to fear."

Despite the club's precarious position at the foot of the table, relegation is not even an issue for the former Town winger.

Rogers told supporters: "Don't worry about that match. It's just a matter of time before we get going. Then watch us go next season."

The selection of eight new players may be a sign of what is to come under the new manager. Most of the new signings are from the Swindon Town youth team.

The eight debutants were: Tate Hulbert, Damon Sefton, Richard Morgan, Tony Dyer, Matthew Goodwin, Ian Farley, Colin Yates and goalkeeper John Haynes.

Rogers insisted that once the players have settled in, Pewsey's fortunes will turn around completely.

"Our new players did well. We still need a couple more, but really it's just a case of settling down.

"We had many players who haven't played in this league before and we did well against the best side in the league. After that performance, we have no reason to be frightened of anybody," he added.

Despite the influx of new signings, Rogers insists he wants the core of the team to be local players.

"I want as many local players in the side as possible. Hopefully we can have seven or eight from Pewsey in the line-up eventually," he said.

The Swindon legend also found time to praise the supporters.

"If we get that many fans when we're losing, think what it'll be like when we're winning."
