NEARLY 100 new after-school club places are being created in Trowbridge, thanks to money from the National Lottery.
Breakfast, after-school and holiday places for a total of 88 children will be provided at Holbrook, Margaret Stancomb and Staverton primary schools.
The biggest grant has gone to Staverton's after-school club, which was only set up in September, and has been awarded £16,032 to provide 40 places for children aged four to 11. The money will pay for 16 breakfast club, eight after-school and 16 holiday places.
Chairman Sue Arnold said: "We are absolutely delighted, it is brilliant news.
"We are going to be able to provide complete care for parents, as we will now be able to have the holiday club, which will probably start in the February half term."
The club also plans to cover teacher development days and is already proving popular.
Mrs Arnold said: "We have lots of plans for the club and this will allow us to do them. We are going to buy things for the club to make it very different from being at school.
"All the children I have spoken to at the club seem to really enjoy it."
The £13,256 awarded to Margaret Stancomb Infant and Junior Schools will provide 32 places, 16 at the after-school club and 16 holiday places for children aged three to 11.
The Holbrook Dragons club, based at Holbrook Primary School, has been awarded £7,147 which will pay for 16 after-school places for children aged five to 11.
The new places are part of nearly 3,000 childcare places being provided in the south west.
