LAST Saturday night Bradford Choral Society put on a programme of Coronation Music at Christ Church, Bradford on Avon. It has taken over three months of hard work on the part of the musical director, Rupert Bevan, and the choir of some 60 singers to prepare for it. The 70-odd people who came to hear it said it was a very good evening of lovely music.

In May, we celebrated the millennium with Haydn's Creation in the Music Centre, when nearly 200 people turned up, but you need 300 to cover your costs.

With these two concerts, which we worked all year to put on, we have lost some £1,200. We always have first class soloists, good orchestras, or well-known organists. Our publicity has been excellent.

With this kind of support, we will not be able to continue. Is this really what Bradford wants?
