A MAN who has helped keep the community free of crime has been given a national award.
Brian Hunt, of Union Street, Melksham, was one of a number of people who revived the town's Neighbourhood Watch scheme about five years ago.
His work over those years of promoting a safer community has been recognised by the national Neighbourhood Watch Association.
Mr Hunt was also instrumental in the town watch becoming part of the national organisation.
He said: "I don't really feel like I should be getting an award. There are lots of people who help run the schemes."
Mr Hunt was highly commended by the national association and will receive his certificate from Wiltshire Chief Constable Elizabeth Neville.
"It does get harder to get people involved, but I feel we have made a difference," said Mr Hunt.
