MORE than £9,000 will be spent to solve flooding problems which have plagued people living in an area of Melksham.
A study revealed a number of problems which cause serious flooding and sewage problems in Westlands Lane in Beanacre.
West Wiltshire District Council wants to work with Wiltshire County Council and other landowners, including Railtrack, to clear open drains and the open ditch system.
The district council's northern area committee has taken on board council officer Graham Creasey's recommendation that the work should be carried out and talks will now start between all parties.
Cllr Brian Mudge said people in homes which had septic tanks suffered badly when ever the town was flooded and sewage seeped into the drainage system.
The study revealed it was not possible to make existing drains larger but the flow of water needed to be reduced.
