CUSTOMERS at an historic pub near Bradford on Avon have reported seeing ghostly images haunting the bar and restaurant areas.
Recent sightings in the Cross Guns at Avoncliff include a grey lady in Victorian dress and her companion, seen drifting through the restaurant by a shocked diner.
Staff believe they have also captured strange haunting images on film while taking pictures of the pub's interior for a website.
Landlord Ken Roberts said: "For years now, people have been saying strange things happen here at this time of year.
"People at a table in the Old Snuff Room reported seeing a grey lady under the stairs surrounded in a grey shroud. There was no smoke there, nothing that could explain those images."
"My daughter Charlotte's nine-month-old fox terrier puppy goes mad when it is near one of the tables by the fireplace where a ghost was seen. The dog senses something and doesn't stop growling. It is normally a loveable creature."
Mr Roberts, who took over the pub in April last year, said: "The cellar links back to a tunnel to the canal and the old priest's hole is part of the restaurant. People have said they get an eerie sensation when they are in that part which is underground."
