The next generation of top guns received awards from an RAF Lyneham Hercules pilot at their annual ceremony.

Air cadets from Swindon's 1244 squadron air training corps enjoyed an evening meal before the awards ceremony.

Flight Lieutenant VRT Chris Rundle, officer commanding 1244 squadron, welcomed Sqn Ldr Jon Clancy from Lyneham's No 24 squadron, who was on hand to present the awards.

Sqn Ldr Clancy was also presented with a framed copy of the squadron's colour standard, which has been jointly commissioned by the two squadron's to mark the official adoption of the air cadets by their senior cousins.

The 24 squadron standard is one of the first to be professionally commissioned for Royal Air Force Squadrons and the first for Lyneham.

Cadet Corporal Stuart Gourley was awarded cadet of the year, Cadet Flight Sergeant Tracy Aldridge was awarded NCO of the year, Cadets Flight Sergeant Brett Taylor and Sergeant David Barrett were awarded their Wings for RAF flying scholarships and gliding certificates were awarded to cadet sergeant Tim Martin and cadet Daniel Heard.
