SHOT-shy Swindon paid the price for some poor finishing as their visitors snatched a late victory.
Despite boasting a starting eleven with considerable first team experience, Town could find no way past QPR's veteran keeper Ludek Miklosko.
Strikers Giuliano Grazioli and Steve Cowe worked hard for little reward but the latter was guilty of a bad miss late in the second half after he had worked himself into a good position.
Marko Tuomela and Sam Campagna looked solid in defence and dealt comfortably with the QPR strikeforce of Richard Graham and Richard Brady.
While Miklosko had a quiet afternoon in the QPR goal, Town's Steve Mildenhall had an equally trouble-free game.
All too often Town's final ball lacked the necessary quality to break down their visitors.
The game appeared to be drifting towards a rather predictable goalless draw when the visitors grabbed the only goal of the game just six minutes from time.
After a promising build up, Richard Brady worked his way into the Town box before firing past Mildenhall into the bottom left hand corner.
TOWN: Mildenhall; Cobian; Heiselberg; Mills; Tuomela; Campagna; Duke; McHugh; Grazioli; Cowe; McAreavey. Subs. Hall; J Williams.
