Local lad Charlie Griffin does not want to leave Swindon Town, but fears he may have to for the sake of his career.

The former Chippenham Town striker has not been able to nail down a regular place in Swindon's starting line-up in almost two years and is frustrated with the lack of opportunities coming his way.

He has made just eight starts over three seasons and has gone on loan to Woking, where he has proved an instant hit, scoring in his first two games.

He is playing for the Surrey club on an initial month-long spell, but there is an option to stay on longer if things work out and Town agree.

The 21-year-old's contract at the County Ground is up at the end of the season and he is looking to the future.

"I don't know whether I have done enough," he said. "It's up to the manager. If not, I'll have to leave.

"Wherever I've been, I've scored goals. I scored for Chippenham, at Yeovil on loan last season and now at Woking.

"Maybe I have struggled a little bit for Swindon. I didn't do as well as I would have liked against Port Vale this season and I was dropped for the next game. I think I just need to be given a chance in more games. Then I can get in there and take it. I feel I can cut it at this level. I think I can cope with it."

He is enjoying time at Woking.

"I have got three more games with Woking, but there is an option to stay longer. We will assess it."
