TROWBRIDGE produced a convincing display in a one sided game.
From the start the Trowbridge pack dominated and seemed to be able to win all their own and the opponents' scrummage ball, and within five minutes had scored two pushover tries, through number eight Jason Reed.
Shortly afterwards Reed completed his quickfire hat-trick with an unstoppable run from inside the opponents' 22 metre line. Fly half Tony Speed added two conversions to make the half time score 19-0.
In the second half, facing an uphill struggle, Westbury rallied briefly to put pressure on the Trowbridge line, but the home side held out and after 10 minutes hit back with arguably the best try of the game.
The Trowbridge pack secured good ball for the backs and fly half Tony Speed popped the ball to full back David Wells, whose intelligent line of run and devastating pace outstripped the Westbury backs.
He was stopped just short of the line, but Lee McClerg was in close support to score the important touchdown.
This opened the floodgates and further tries came from Dave Hanham, Harvey Kenny, Reed, and Lee McClerg. Speed added another five conversions.
Trowbridge 3rds 7,
Keynsham Vets 26
IN a highly entertaining game Trowbridge were unable to overcome a well drilled Keynsham side.
Fielding a relatively young side Trowbridge were only able to score a converted try to the visitors' four tries and three conversions.
l BASED on a highly successful season last year Trowbridge under 15s have been training hard all summer and have started this season well.
The side was unlucky to lose their opening game narrowly against the Bristol side Frampton Cotterell, but have hit back with two convincing victories, over Ivel Barbarians 10-0, and Warminster by 55-0.
They have created a good team spirit and adventurous style of play which will no doubt cause many problems for their opposition this season.
Bradford on Avon 13, Hungerford 0
IN a close fought first half, both teams ended with nothing to show for their efforts, with the score at nil-all.
The second half was totally different and with coach Ted O'Leary's half-time talk still ringing in their ears, Bradford took the lead.
The forwards drove upfield and with Hungerford's defence in tatters, the ball was spun out and Rob Thomas jinked inside his would be tackler for a fine try.
The home side now became much more dominant, with the line-out providing a good source of ball, and it wasn't too long before another try was scored. A series of close range scrums led to the line being crossed, but no try was awarded.
From the resulting five-metre scrum, number eight Robbie Isgrove picked up and drove over.
With the game now won, it was left to full back O'Leary to score an audacious drop goal to complete this victory in Dorset and Wilts Division Two North encounter.
