HIGHWORTH drama teacher John Williams will be appearing on television screens next week in the acclaimed BBC drama The Sins.
Mr Williams, who teaches at Churchfields School and runs drama workshops, was given the part of a vicar running behind a coffin in Willesden cemetery.
The 58-year-old was one of 20 extras cast for the series, which will be shown on BBC1 at 9.10pm on Tuesday. The series follows the fortunes of an ex-con who is attempting to go straight.
"It was great fun," he said. "I met quite a few of the actors, including Pete Postle-thwaite, but I must admit he seemed a bit remote."
Mr Williams is no stranger to appearing on television. He used to have a part in the Welsh soap opera Pobol Y Cym and appeared in BBC's The Carer a few weeks ago.
An American television company recently cast him in the main role for a short film called The Miracle, which was not broadcast over here, but clips were shown on Oprah Winfrey's chat show.
He has three agents who find him work and his greatest ambition would be to have a contract with the National Theatre Company or to be in Stratford in cameo roles.
In his spare time he puts on murder mystery plays with the company Daggers Drawn.
On Friday, November 24, he is presenting an charity evening of drama involving young people and adults, at The Recreation Centre in Highworth. Tickets cost £5 including cheese and wine. Call John on 764431.
