PETER Moss was the Highworth hero in their 6-0 away cup victory over Bicester Town. The striker had a hand in the first five goals, scoring twice and helping out in the other three.
Highworth keeper Mark Turner kept his side from going behind in the opening exchanges making two excellent saves as the home side pushed men forward.
However the Wiltshire side weathered the opening storm and took the lead on 22 minutes, Peter Moss squaring for Justin Miller to tap into an empty net.
Two minutes before the break they added a second, a long ball out to defence was headed on by Keith Walker for Moss to run through and score.
Soon after the restart Nathan Holt swapped passes with Moss before shooting past the keeper and on 75 minutes Moss finished off a fine solo run by netting the fourth
Five minutes later Moss was brought down in the box and Dave Webb added a fifth from the penalty spot.
Sub Rob Etherington came on for the injured Moss and completed the scoring, Matthew Debell, making his debut for the club, squared an excellent ball for Etherington to score.
Fairford Town also gained an excellent cup victory beating a rapidly improving Yate Town side by three goals to nil.
The home side started well and recent signing from Highworth Town Pete Horwat had a hand in the opening goal scored by Lee Morse after only eight minutes.
Morse was again on target on 37 minutes, Stevenson and Horwat combining well to cross to the near post for Morse to glide in.
Just before the break a long throw by Martin Thompson caused trouble in the Yate penalty area and Scott Burry was on hand to score a third.
After the break Fairford continued to dominate with Lee Morse outstanding in midfield.
Gareth Davies, Carl Stevenson and O'Connell all had good chances to have added to the Fairford goal tally.
Swindon Supermarine's game against RS Basingstoke was abandoned at half time with the South Marston side leading by a goal to nil scored by Pete Farrow in the opening few minutes.
Conditions deteriorated as the game wore on and the referee called it a day at the break.
