Fallen chunks of the asbestos roof of the Arkell's stand at the County Ground were found by staff reporting for work today.

And the recently-installed enclosure for fans with disabilities has been destroyed.

Stadium manager Ron Topp said: "The asbestos roof has blown off in places.

"It has gone right out to the cricket pitch on the extension ground.

"Our new disabled enclosure on the side of the pitch has completely disintegrated.

"It is a shame because disabled people have been fighting for so long to get it.

"Our fire alarm system has gone down because of water damage, and we are still investigating what other damage there might be."
