DANNY Invincible believes it is only a matter of time before Town start to claw their way towards the top of division two.

The young Australian revelled in his striking role at Meadow Lane and was desperately disappointed that his two goals were not enough to give his side the points.

However, midfielder-cum- striker has now hit the net four times for Town and he is confident the team can build on a much- improved display at County.

He said: "Overall, we played well and and deserved better than we what got. The attitude among the boys is to go out and give it all we've got. Some of the results haven't gone our way and we've tried different things. Now the boys are saying it's time to step up a gear and see if we can try and get out of that bottom half, which is never good to be in."

The Australian is confident Town's current slot in the bottom three is only temporary.

"If you stay in the bottom half you are almost fighting relegation. I've got confidence we won't be doing that. Hopefully we'll be challenging to get into the first division. We've three home games coming up. If we can string together results from those matches hopefully everything will change," he said.

He said Town's caretaker boss had applauded the players.

"A lot of things have happened at the club but the boys went out, played well and gave it all we had and Andy had praise for us," he said.

Fellow striker Martin Williams said: "I think there was a lot to be pleased about the game but the result just didn't go for us."

Although the striking pair's defensive colleagues were unable to prevent County's three goals, the feeling was very upbeat.

Antoine van der Linden said: "I think we played the best game of the season so far and should have won. If you compare the chances we should have won 7-2. If we keep playing like that we will get better. We got balls into the box and the strikers held the ball up tremendously for midfielders."

Fellow central defender and skipper, Alan Reeves, said: "Towards the end of the game we have shot ourselves in the foot by giving away a penalty. But, we had at least four clear- cut chances that we didn't take.

"But there is something to build on. We have three home games coming up and we've got to get something out of those but if we keep playing like that, we will."

Keeper Bart Griemink said the switch to playing five at the back had been a good tactical decision.

He said: "The gaffer changed the system and I thought it worked really well. We played the ball around, created a lot of chances and we looked very good. We can take confidence from this."
