QUALITY finishing by Devizes Town Reserves helped them thrash Wroughton 6-1 and take over from Cricklade as leaders of the Premier section.

For their part Wroughton never gave up and made the home side fight for every ball. At the break they were trailing 2-1, Ashley Channing converting a good cross from the left for Wroughton.

After the break Devizes added a third but Wroughton then missed a good chance to get back into the game, Channing missing from the penalty spot. The home side continued to take their chances well and added three more goals for a slightly flattering 6-1 victory. Mark Strickland (2), Gary Campbell (2), Nathan Sheridan and Lee Pearce the Devizes scorers.

Pewsey Vale Reserves braved the conditions and ran out winners against Melksham Town Reserves 7-2. Mark Fields (3), Darren Tapper (2), Paul McLoughlin and Neil Stevens were on target for Pewsey and Chandler scored twice for Melksham.

The rest of the scheduled games in the Premier Division were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

Aldbourne gained a 4-1 victory over Corsham Town Reserves in the second round of the Addkey Senior Cup, Pete Orsi giving the home side the lead from the penalty spot and Darren Woodfield adding a second just before the break.

Corsham hit back to score through Rogers soon after the restart but the home side added two more from Woodfield and Darryl Mason.

In the Intermediate Section league leaders Burmah Castrol were held to a 1-1 draw by Stratton Crosslink. Burmah took an interval lead on the half hour when a good cross from Brendan Graham was swept into the net by Paul O'Connell.

After the break both goalmouths saw plenty of action and ten minutes from time Crosslink grabbed an equaliser with a strike from Nick Ritchens.

Down Ampney and Wanborough Utd braved the elements with victory going to Ampney by 3-0 to end United's unbeaten league record.

With the wind and rain behind them Ampney opened the scoring midway through the first half, Adam Ockwell beating the offside trap to run through and give his side an interval lead.

After the break it was all United who penned the home side back in their own half. However a quick break by Ockwell put Ampney two up and sub Paul Jehu broke away to score a third.

In Junior Division One Sherston and Burmah Castrol served up an eight-goal thriller, Sherston running out 5-3 winners. Chris Mintern (3), Matt Clarke and Adam Scarlett scored for the home side and Russell King, Paul Aust and Jason Skinner for Castrol.

Wroughton Reserves had to wait until after the break before going on to beat West Swindon 3-0. Glenn Armstrong scored from the spot after Paul Jardin had been brought down and sub Phil Fish came on and netted twice to make sure of victory.

Tom Paget, Antony Cavazetti and Jason Pride scored for Bromham in their 3-0 win over Dunbar Westside Reserves in Junior Division Two.

Chris Cooper (2) and Paul Simmonds gave Wootton Bassett Utd a 3-0 interval lead at Marshfield, Brett Reynolds (2) and Kevin Bray netting after the break.

A young Purton A side fought well against league leaders Swindon Eagles before losing 5-0, with Francis Telling (2), Martin Cobb (2) and Wayne Petrie on target for the Eagles.

Wanborough United Reserves and Down Ampney Reserves shared the points in an entertaining 3-3 draw. Darren Hurt opened the scoring for United with Jolly replying twice for Ampney to give them an interval lead.

After the break Nick Weymouth equalised for the home side but once again Ampney took the lead through Furlong. Wanborough were determined not to be outdone and Dave Ardman equalised in the closing stages. Wanborough's point was enough to lift them off the foot of the table.
