Pensioner Annice Crockett would like to see the "little swine" who robbed her behind bars.

The mugger escaped with a red plastic carrier bag and Mrs Crockett's handbag when he grabbed it from her yesterday afternoon in Ferndale Road, Gorse Hill.

As well as around £80 cash, the mugger stole Mrs Crockett's pension books and other important papers.

She said: "I was a bit shaken when it happened, I'm just glad I didn't get hurt.

"It was a nasty experience for an elderly person like myself to have to go through."

Mrs Crockett, 86, moved to Swindon last year from Wales, when her husband of 64 years died, so that she could be closer to her daughter who lives in Swindon.

She said she had just been to the post office when the mugger struck.

"He grabbed my handbag and my other bag and just ran off," she said.

"I suppose it is just money, but it was quite a frightening experience. When he ran off I shouted at him: 'You rotten little swine'."

The attack happened at midday, when the man approached Mrs Crockett from behind, grabbed her bags and ran down an alleyway.

The mugger is described as white, aged around 16 to 20 years old. He was wearing light coloured clothes and a black woollen hat.

If anyone has any information they are asked to ring PC Tim Gardner, at Westlea police station on Swindon 528111.
